This new Strand release on Lowriders, Maleza is a very personal take on bass music, Juke, west coast hiphop, Jamaican music, prepared pianos, old detuned synths, odd time signatures and huge live reverbs.
The idea of the record came when I was going through a lot of personal struggle and I was not able to get out of it. In the same period I decided to run in the woods near my home early in the morning. I ran every day, and ran and ran. Eventually I got out of my problems. So I left the 'maleza' away.
This is a very personal record, each sound has a deep meaning about me and my loved ones.
Maleza means 'bad herbs, weeds, undergrowth' in Spanish.
