Shawscape Renegade

Eddie Fowlkes is the history of Detroit Techno and not just because his handprints are cemented on the Detroit Historical Museum’s “Legends Plaza.” His 30+ years of moving a dancefloor and his 150+ deep catalog of soulful classics speak for themselves. After attending a 1978 Charivari party with his older sisters where he saw DJ Darryl Shannon mixing records, Eddie requested a mixer for Christmas. From that time on he mastered the art of DJing leading to his first release in 1986. That release on Metroplex Records, “Goodbye Kiss,” helped establish what would come to be known as Detroit Techno. In the 1980s, he performed with three turntables, a mixer, wah-wah pedal and the 808 & 909 drum machines and this revolutionary style of DJing pushed the boundaries of what a disc jockey could be. In 1993, Eddie Fowlkes found a name for his distinct sound: Techno Soul. Techno Soul is Detroit techno, 70s funk, the Motown sound, Parliament, and Chicago house. Eddie’s DJ sets reflect his productions that are an evolution in one track, from house to techno and back again. Eddie has many recordings and remixes on major labels and independents dating back to 1989 (Elektra Records, Sony, BMG, Warner Brothers, Azuli, Tresor, P.I.A.S). Of the Detroit originators, Eddie is not simply just a great DJ or just a great producer - he is equally strong in both avenues. Eddie never rested on his laurels but has always worked hard. He continues to create, to push boundaries, to release music on his two imprints (City Boy Records and Detroit Wax Records), to charm dancefloors worldwide, and to represent Detroit musical talent at its best.

Luke Hess [DeepLabs / FXHE / Planet-e / Echocord] Detroit, MI USA Born in 1980 in Metro Detroit and subject to the city's mid-90's warehouse parties, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. Luke's faith based music production landed him a seat with Omar S' FXHE label & Carl Craig's Planet-e label in Detroit. Hess has celebrated original productions and remix material on labels such as DeepLabs, FXHE, Planet-e, Dolly, Motech, Rekids, Echocord, Kontra-Music, Modelisme, Ornaments, Echocord Colour, & more. In 2009, Luke released his first album, 'Light in the Dark' on Denmark-based record label, Echocord. 'Light in the Dark' received glowing reviews and was hailed by many as one of the best deep techno albums of the year. His second artist album 'Keep On' was release on CD in 2012 and on 2x12' vinyl in 2013 and received a superb score of 4.5/5 & recommended review on Resident Advisor. With over 15 years of DJ experience and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage. Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner. After playing many notable venues & festivals such as Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Awakenings Festival, Berghain & Panorama Bar - Berlin, Dimensions Festival, ENTER. - Ibiza, Fabric - London, Unit - Tokyo, De School - Amsterdam, Culture Box - Copenhagen, OUTPUT - NYC, Decibel Festival - Seattle, Bassment - Hong Kong, Concrete - Paris, Dude Club - Milan, +++, he is excited to continue exploring the world stage and introducing new and old fans to his raw & deep breed of Detroit techno. Beneath a good-natured grin and glasses akin to Clark Kent, Alexander Drazin, aka ADMN, is a sonic superhero. With an innate knack for music and technology, he has been conscientiously honing his craft since childhood. Having learned to play piano, trumpet and bass guitar all before graduating from high school, his extensive training in Classical and Jazz theory and technique only propel his propensity for making electronic music. Inspired by the darkest reaches of Detroit, the DJ/Producer brings skill and tenacity to the studio and the stage.
